Why did I draw her firebending? It took like, 2 hours longer because of that…

Found this guy recently and still loving his work !!

No

Why is she white

Why is she blonde

Why are her eyes green

Stop

Stop you are doing Korra wrong

Stop it now

be… cause it’s the color palette…?

i don’t like white washing either but that’s not what’s going on here. if you’re getting pissy about colors, then maybe you should bitch about how her clothes aren’t blue either.

why are they green

why

w    h    y

No this is very clearly whitewashing

Blonde hair and white skin is not part of any color palate

The midtones are not even close to correct

I mean yeah I noticed the clothes too, and her EYES…

But the skin and hair is why got me most mad

Because she is just so

White

Oh. My god.

This is an actual issue? I’m all about awareness of white supremacy but if you can’t tell he used red and green for their complimentary effects. Not what we peg colors to mean in terms of people. It shouldn’t be a blown out issue that he took some artistic license with the composition/color harmony and it doesn’t even relate to ethnicity at all. If you’ve ever taken an art class in your life you’ll realize colors define much more than just where you’re from. That’s a narrow way of trying to pinpoint a piece. Immerse yourself in some real art kid, you’ll realize this is nothing compared to the countless offensive and satirical pieces out in the world. Art comes in all forms but this, there’s no hint of purpose from the artist to come across as offensive. I just…I can’t even begin to wrap my head around this. You’ve insulted the artist and his work and that’s just as offensive as you feel the whitewashing issue is. So lashing out at an artist rectifies what you think is the problem? That makes perfect sense, do just as much damage as you think he is. Right.

Are you fucking kidding me? Can we stop using the fucking “art” argument to be racist fuckholes for once? Calling someone out on their shit (don’t you dare try and say that white/blonde shit is part of a color scheme you can’t even spell correctly, because darker browns would have worked JUST as well with a red/green complementary pallet) is nowhere NEAR erasing one of the few decent representations of brown people in pop culture.

What the fuck why is she blonde? And white? This is not what a brown-skinned, dark-haired person looks like in firelight - even bright firelight at close range. I seriously thought this was a fanart of Samus Aran at first.
The more you defend the blatant inaccuracy of this artwork, the more racist you looks. The only appropriate response would be the artist, saying something like, “Oops I was trying to do something with lighting/colors but she came out looking white and blonde - oh well I don’t feel like fixing it,” that would be acceptable. But this angry defensive bullshit from people who didn’t even make the thing? You’re just exposing yourself as racist.

And this is legitimately hilarious.

Don’t you guys have something better to do than complaining about fanart orrrrr

>implying an artist is racist because a character’s skin tone came out wrong in the lighting they’re trying to show

>implying an artist who is racist would draw a character of race at all

>implying

>IMPLYING

so uh hey how about this is a really good picture wow that is some good talent this artist has i’d like to give them a round of applause in the midst of this storm of RIDICULOUSNESS REALLY WHY AND HOW IS THIS EVEN AN ARGUMENT GADZOOKS.

no but seriously that fire looks really pretty hot damn.

what the actual fuck guys. IT IS CLEARLY THE FIRE THAT MAKES THE HAIR LIGHTER.

ALSO THE SKIN.

jesus christ. i can clearly see the darkhaired, darkskinned korra in this. if you can’t see that it is the light that makes it look like what you THINK, then what the hell.

this is a MAGNIFICENT PIECE OF ART.

appreciate it.

Just a few [of the] references [from different websites] I’ve compiled for making more unique face/body shapes in my characters.
Of course, creative liberty is (and can be) taken on most of these shapes, but anyone who wishes to design a character should at least know that there are many shapes and sizes for characters to be and that can define them.
I encourage making each character, human or animal, unique and identifiable by their silhouettes and profiles when they’re bald and unclothed.

fuck nevermind trying to find ways to not suck at art.
